Malaligned teeth, better known as crowded teeth, can be corrected with several different approaches. The most common way is to have orthodontic treatment. For children and young adults, I highly recommend this approach. However, many adults do not like to have braces put on for a period that could be up to 2 years. Socially this can be a hindrance. Besides, adult teeth are harder to move and the process is sometimes painful. Also, root resorption is always a possibility. In only two visits, crooked and crowded teeth can be transformed with a smile makeover. The results can be dramatic. Sometimes a patient's bite can be corrected with restorative work in much shorter period of time. One of the makeovers you will see is an example of this. The patient had been in braces for over a year, however decay was forming and he felt that he was not going in a good direction. Veneers and crowns were able to give him new bite and a better looking smile in only 3 weeks!
Always explore all possibilities for treatment and pick the one that gets you the end results that you desire.

Gaps and spaces can occur for a variety of reasons. Teeth can be too small for the size of the arch; teeth are missing from birth or due to extractions, or because of relapses from earlier orthodontic treatment. No matter what the reason, proper balancing and symmetry can correct the problem. Like crowding, orthodontics is a possible treatment choice. The treatment is long, and most adults like the alternative of a more rapid fix. Also, the size and color of the teeth is often times better managed through the use of veneers.

Patients never like when their teeth are discolored. Yellow, brown, and gray colored teeth do not have the same appeal as a wide, white smile. With the newer techniques and materials, a persons' smile can be made white; however still have that natural appearance. Bleaching is a good first choice for a discolored smile. However, bleaching can only go so far. After 4 weeks, teeth will reach their total bleach potential. Also, if white hypocalcified areas are present on you teeth, these areas may not bleach correctly. In fact, sometimes the areas can get even brighter. Tetracycline staining has always been heartache for both the patient and the restoring dentist. With the proper treatment, even tetracycline teeth can be corrected.
If you are not satisfied with the final color of your teeth after bleaching, then a smile makeover with veneers may be a great alternative.

Over time, wear and tear can really begin to show on your teeth and eventually affect your smile. I coined the term Rejuvenation Dentistry to describe the process of restoring your smile to make it young and youthful again. Teeth become discolored as we age. There is a loss of tooth structure, therefore teeth become shorter. Aging causes us to lose collagen in our lips. As a result, our lips hang lower and do not lift as high. When you combine this with the lose of tooth structure that we get over time, the result is less teeth that show when you smile. A smile makeover can restore that youthful appearance in only two visits.

Aesthetic Dentistry is the process of recreating something that is beautiful and the ultimate appreciation of that beauty. Everyone wants to have a great smile, but for different reasons we do not feel confident with our smile. Studies show that over 50% of adults are not happy with their smiles. As luck would have it, some of us are simply not born with that perfect smile. Teeth are may not be the right shape or be positioned correctly in our mouth. Other times, because of bite and grinding problems, are teeth become worn over time, making our smile less attractive. No matter what the reason, a smile makeover, done many times conservatively with veneers, can give you the smile you deserve.

Sometimes the hardest procedures to do in dentistry are fixing teeth that have already had work done to them. Eventually, all restorations need an upgrade. Old crowns that look out of place are always a challenge. Old bonding that is discolored and worn needs to be changed to look healthier and more aesthetically pleasing. Sometimes, veneers that have been placed years ago need to be updated because of gum shrinkage or the color was not right or simply not available. New porcelain in conjunction with proper technique and experience can change old, out of date restorations into fantastic smiles.
